Objectives
To learn from the past, improve on the present and advance into the future of nursing.
To explore and chart strategies for the development of the nursing profession for the people and uphold the nursing image in the community.

About the Speakers

Matron Tselvin A/P Subramaniam

Matron Tselvin currently is the Deputy Director of Nursing Malaysia, and Secretary to Nursing Board, Malaysia, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Besides, she is also the President Elect of the National Midwifery Society, Malaysia. She is active in many initiatives related to quality improvement in nursing services and education. She has been invited frequently by several Nursing Agencies to participate in meetings and workshops related to nursing policies/procedures/acts etc. She has a deep interest in nursing research and has presented several nursing papers at various conferences both locally and internationally. She works closely with various bodies such as CRM, IHSR, IPK, IPTA etc that facilitates or promotes nursing research. Due to her great contributions, she is has received several nursing awards and also conferred the Best Public Service Medal (PJK) by Selangor State Government in 2011. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in education.

Mrs. Gerrie Martin

Gerrie Martin is currently working as the Director for Performance Improvement for Penang Adventist Hospital.� Prior to this in 1995 she worked as a General Nurse in South Australia for a nursing agency.� Then in 1997 she was an OR/PI/Risk Manager in Jellico, TN, then went on to be the Performance Improvement Coordinator at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital in 2002.� During the time spent in Hong Kong both Hong Kong Adventist Hospital and Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital were awarded Joint Commission International Accreditation.� She graduated in 1972 from Walla Walla Community College with an ADN degree, then in 1992 from Southern Adventist University with a BSN.� She was awarded Southern Adventist University�s Nursing Schools� Nurse for the Past 50 Years in 2007.

Dr. Faridah Hashim

Associate Professor Dr. Faridah Bt. Hashim is currently the Dean/Director at Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Open University Malaysia. Besides, she is the panel member for MQA, member for the Curriculum and Examination committee of Nursing Board Malaysia, and was the Chairperson for the Nursing Council for IPTA for 4 years. She supervises PhD and Master Degree students as well as the examiner for post-graduate candidates. She has been appointed as the Board of studies, external examiners and academic advisors to a few universities. She presented many papers at local and international conferences and was selected to attend the GNLI workshop in Geneva 2011, sponsored by International Nursing Council (ICN).

Dr. Ng Kim Looi

Dr. Ng Kim Looi is currently the Director of Nursing at the Penang Adventist Hospital. She began her Nursing Career in the UK and after completing her nurse training followed by post-basic in midwifery and family planning, she left UK and worked in Singapore before taking up a job in the Middle-East. It is in the Middle-East (Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia) that she spent most part of her working life - a total of about 25 years! The last position she held in the Middle-East was Director of Clinical Nursing. Through the years, the courses that she pursued include health services management at the Royal College of Nursing in London, MSc in Training and HRM in Leicester, UK and had completed her PhD in Management at Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Dr. Siriporn Tantipoonwinai

Dr. Siriporn is the President Emeritus of Asia-Pacific International University, Thailand, a visiting professor, curriculum consultant and advisor to many major universities and government agencies in Thailand and abroad. She has an eminent background as a scholar, teacher and administrator and has published numerous articles as well as received several awards in recognition of her work from government and non-government agencies. Amidst all this recognition, Dr. Siriporn continues to reach out to touch and transform the lives of her students, patients and people who come into contact with her.
