原本想以中文书写这本书的读后心得，可是最终却以英文来写出。以下是我读了《为自己出征》的读后感：
In this world, we can find that there were many valuable books around us but have you ever wonder what kind of books that's truly attracted you in advanced making you falling in love with it? I'm sure there'll be some books that was really have this strength to do so. And here I have found a book like that.
This is the book that have touch me a lot which worth enough for me to understand the life, the universe. For long, I spent much time in understanding the value of this book. Every chapter in the book is just like the life we’ve been through. Each of the chapter is the mirror that shown out our life.
Although it was really short but the lesson in it was worthy and valuable. After reading the book, I kept carry on self-questioning about the life I’ve been get through such as am I happy now? What is the life meant for me? All I can get is to make the life better and happier is we need to love, to learn and to realise. For to love we have to love ourselves first as only when we have learn about that we then will love people around us. For to learn is we have to make ourselves more enriched by gaining knowledge from surrounding and to realise the truth in the life.
The whole book is about a knight who get stuck in his armor and starting his journey to find the ways to free himself from the armor. His journey is also our journey because it full with hope, belief, laughter and tears. From the first chapter the story sets and then his journey begins with joys and tears, desire and consciousness, ignorance and wisdom, fear and bravery. From here, we will learn about our life is like antonyms, where when there’s goodness happen, there will be sadness too.
In this life, we always trapped in material wealth till losing our path, the moral value in helping people, loving people and service for the world. Most of us had cultivated some bad habits likes selfish, cold-hearted, and doubtful; to pursue position and wealth, some would sell out themselves. I would like to ask you, is it worth for you to do like that?
In the story, there are some meaningful phrases that reflect our own. And each time I read the phrases, there will be another annotation in my mind and the path that I want to marching will getting clearer and distinct. The phrase that the most influence me is “Knowledge is the light by which you shall find your way”. This inception had taught me that each of us should gain knowledge to make our life better and live well. The knowledge I mean is not only knowledge from books but also self-knowledge which mostly called self-motivation. But the knowledge in this world is infinite. Therefore, we should learn from the world and be with her all the time to improve ourselves. By mastering the knowledge, we can face the trouble with will and daring and then we will defeat fear and doubt.
Besides, the story also told us that self-sacrifice is also a part of love. To love, we should never claim for repay as granted is better than accept. In the Buddha Enlightenment, people who always granted and not asking for repay will have good deeds and this people will easily get to the Path of Truth. A part from that, we whom have ambitions to achieve should fulfilling its potential to the benefit of all as we are a part of this world and we should used it to serve the people and the world in order to make our life more magnificent and happy.
Whom I would recommend this book to? I better choose people from all walks of life because we are the guardian of the world and we need to learn how to love our life and the world. We are who we are and not easily influence by words and people surrounding. Thus, we have to act as who we are by trying to find our own, to gain as much knowledge as we can and always have the thought of will and daring when we are still alive.
Moreover, I’m also like the ways the author brings out the story by using a fairy-tale like settings to reflects our life. I’m admired in the way the author meticulously arrange the plot in the whole journey which the knight went through. Firstly, the knight met Merlin’s the magician who emerge in the centuries ago, then Merlin taught him to get out of the armour, he need to went on the Path of Truth and from there he will learn to get know himself when he came to the three castles: The Castle of Silence, The Castle of Knowledge and The Castle of Will and Daring. After crossing the castles, he will climb up the Summit of Truth where he will learn the meaning of love. From the settings, I can learn why the author picks out and arrange such a story.
In my point of view, I think the author must have experienced a lot in his life and he found out that our life is like a mess and some of us maybe would never appreciate in his life till he return to the bosom of God. So, the author decides to write a book that trying to help us get know the meaning of life and tell us the power of love. And what I can say is he had succeeded to do so because what he’s writing had introspection me all the time. And I would underlined once again this is the first book that touched me and taught me the responsibilities that we should do for the life.
The end of the book had written “For, indeed, the knight was the brook. He was the moon. He was the sun. He could be all these things at once now, and more, because he was one with the universe. He was love.” When I read this sentence, I figured out that what the author wants to brings out is the meaning of love. He tries to tell us that love conquers all and love never die. Love is eternally and will always be with us the whole time and never burnt out her light and power.
Finally, after such a lengthy talk, I would like to say that it would be a waste if you missed such a nice and valuable book. If you want to know what’s the book called? Well, it was “The Knight in Rusty Armour” which is written by Robert Fisher.
